The aim of RE in the foundation stage is essentially the same as that in other stages of a child’s education, namely, ‘to learn about and learn from religious and spiritual insights, beliefs and practices.’ During the foundation stage children begin to explore the world of religion in terms, for example, of special people, books, times, places and objects, and visiting places of worship.
